Home : Video course : Module 1: Camcorders : Choosing a Camcorder : Video Quality
When considering which video camera to buy picture quality has to be the overriding factor.
The size, and efficiency, of one core component – the light sensitive ‘chip’, determines the picture quality you get in any camera (video or stills).
The amount of detail a chip can record is roughly determined by its size and expressed in the number of pixels.
This is a bit of a simplification but CCD architecture is beyond the scope of these lessons.
