It’s a no brainer!
Firstly, you can’t even buy analogue video cameras (except used) anymore.
If that is not reason enough consider the advantage of better picture quality. Analogue video is a stream of fluctuating voltages that are recorded on magnetic tape. This is not efficient, with quality loss during recording and playback. That loss is compounded when you make a copy of that tape. With digital there is no loss during copying. The copy is exactly the same as the original – no matter how many generations of copying down the line.
Digital equipment is so much smaller than it’s analogue ancestors and that means smaller underwater housings (and less excess baggage!).
So the choice now is which method you choose to store the digital signal in the camcorder.
