It is a wise precaution to split all your kit between bags. Keep your video in it's housing for carry-on. Always keep your recorded tapes with you. They are the one thing you can't replace. Your tape costs are negligible compared to your trip so don't skimp on them.

Always double-check the label that the airline employee puts on your checked in bags to make sure it is the same destination that you are going to!
